Download or delete files
Download files straight from your storage provider, delete files and empty folders, the 1 GB browser download limit, and what can't be undone.
Download a file
Select the download icon (the down arrow) at the end of the file’s row. You need Read access to the file.
The file comes straight from your storage provider to your browser. It doesn’t pass through quickS3.
A few things to know:
- Browser downloads stop at 1 GB. For bigger files, quickS3 shows “This file is larger than the 1 GB browser download limit”. Use your provider’s own tools, or an AI client, for those.
- Sometimes the file opens in a new tab instead of downloading. That happens when the bucket’s CORS rules don’t allow the browser to fetch it directly. Save it from the new tab, or ask an Owner to fix CORS.
- Folders can’t be downloaded in one go. Download the files one at a time.
To send a file to someone outside quickS3, share a link instead of downloading and re-sending it.
Delete a file
- Select the bin icon at the end of the file’s row.
- Check the path and size in the dialog.
- Select Delete.
You only see the bin icon where you have Write access.
Deleting is permanent. quickS3 has no recycle bin and can’t undo it. If your provider keeps old versions of files (called versioning), you may be able to recover the file in your provider’s console, but not from quickS3.
Delete a folder
You can only delete a folder once it’s empty. Delete the files inside it first, then select the bin icon on the folder and Delete folder.
Every download and delete is recorded in the audit log, including ones that were refused.
