AI clients and quickS3

Let an AI client like Claude Code or Codex work with your buckets, limited to the roles you pick. It never sees your storage keys.

Owner Admin Member AI user

quickS3 works as an MCP server, so AI clients such as Claude Code, the Claude app, and Codex can list your buckets and move files for you. The client never sees your storage keys, and it can only do what the roles you pick allow.

How it works

  1. You add quickS3 to your AI client using the address on the AI agents page.
  2. The client opens quickS3 in your browser. You sign in, pick which of your custom roles it gets, and choose how long the access lasts: 30, 60, or 90 days.
  3. The client can now use quickS3’s tools, within those roles, until the access expires or you revoke it.

Anyone in the organisation can connect their own AI clients, as long as they have at least one custom role. A client can never have more access than you: it borrows some of your roles, never Owner or Admin.

What an AI client can do

It can list connections, buckets, and files, create download links and share links, and upload files. It can’t delete, rename, move, or create folders, and it can’t change people, roles, or settings. What AI clients can do lists every tool.

To download or upload, the client gets a short-lived link and moves the file itself, straight to or from your storage provider. That means it needs to be able to run a command like curl. Chat-only clients can browse your buckets, but can’t transfer files. See how file transfers work.

Staying in control

  • Everything the client does is checked against your roles as they are right now. If someone changes or removes one of those roles, or removes you from the organisation, the client loses that access straight away.
  • You can revoke a client at any time on the AI agents page. Manage connected clients shows how.
  • Every action shows up in the audit log, marked with the client that did it.

Get started

  1. Make a role for the AI client, so it gets only what it needs.
  2. Connect your client: Claude Code, Claude app, Codex, or another client.
  3. Approve it on the consent screen.
