Connection slugs and URLs
The short name a connection uses in browser addresses, how quickS3 makes one from the connection name, and what breaks if you change it.
When you open a bucket, the browser address looks like this:
https://quicks3.com/app/c/marketing-assets/brand-kitmarketing-assets is the connection’s slug. It makes addresses readable and lets people bookmark a bucket.
How a slug is made
If you leave Connection slug empty when you add a connection, quickS3 makes one from the name. “Marketing Assets 2026” becomes marketing-assets. Anything that isn’t a letter turns into a hyphen, and trailing hyphens are dropped.
To choose your own, type it into Connection slug. Slugs can only contain lowercase letters and hyphens, so no numbers, spaces, or underscores. If another connection in the organisation already uses it, quickS3 adds a letter to the end, like marketing-assets-a.
Changing a slug
Owners can change it by editing the connection. Clearing the field makes the connection fall back to its internal ID in addresses.
Roles, AI clients, and the audit log don’t use the slug, so they keep working. Bookmarks and shared links to bucket pages do break. After a change, open the bucket from Overview and send people the new address.
Slugs show up in addresses and browser history, so keep customer names and anything sensitive out of them.
